M. Japin was born in Ambarawa, Central Java, 23 February 1959.
Japin started his painting career in Ubud, Bali, 1990. He also joined "Kelompok Sepuluh" (Group of ten) of Ambarawa artists.
Japin's favorite objects are about traditional games and activities of children in rural area, which are almost extinct from the villagers in Indonesia.
